Did you know….?? LPG

LPG: did you know….?? LPG is used as a feedstock for the petrochemical industry as well as in the production of MTBE and Alkylate at the refinery. LPG as domestic or industrial heating LPG (propane mostly) is used in areas without a natural gas supply and for mobile applications used as bottled gas.

LPG as an automotive fuel

Alternatively LPG can be used as gasoline engine fuel; it is a relatively clean fuel (emission) with a pleasantly high octane number. Recently, LPG is even considered in the marine fuel oil application, in other words: fuel in large diesel engines.

Pressurised LPG tanks have safety relief valves

LPG is commonly stored in pressurised tanks. As expansion due to temperature difference are expected these pressure tanks are never completely filled, to allow for expansion. Should the pressure rise above the design pressure of a tank a pressure-relief valve will operate to relief the pressure by venting the LPG gas.
